Passavant Offering Memorial JointWorks

Posted on: August 31, 2016

Passavant Area Hospital is now offering Memorial JointWorks, a specialized care program to help joint replacement patients return to normal life and recover as quickly as possible. The goal of JointWorks is to eliminate pain and discomfort in unhealthy joints and increase mobility, enabling patients to return to the highest possible quality of life. JointWorks provides each orthopedic patient with a case manager and a team of orthopedic specialists and nursing staff who specialize in joint replacement surgery and rehabilitation. The team guides each patient through JointWorks, from pre-surgery education to post-surgery rehabilitation. JointWorks also helps the patient’s spouse or loved one learn the best ways to help during the joint replacement process. A JointWorks class is included in the program. Patients attend the class prior to their surgery to learn about their procedure, view videos that show and describe the artificial joint components, and listen to post-surgery recovery options. Each patient also receives a personalized joint replacement binder. Passavant performs nearly 300 joint replacement procedures each year. Joint replacement procedures include knee, hip, and shoulder replacements. For more details, patients should talk with their orthopedic surgeon or visit here.
