Questions the Central Scheduler May ask when scheduling an exam:

  • DOES THE PATIENT HAVE A PACEMAKER? IF YES, MRI CANNOT BE PERFORMED.
  • DOES THE PATIENT HAVE RENAL INSUFFICIENCY OR RENAL DISEASE? IF YES, PLEASE INFORM THE MRI DEPT AT EXT. 3111.
  • HAS THE PATIENT HAD LUMBAR SPINE SURGERY?
  • HOW MUCH DOES THE PATIENT WEIGH? PLEASE BE SPECIFIC. IF PATIENT WEIGHS OVER 350 LBS, PLEASE CALL MRI FOR EXAM APPROVAL.
  • IS THIS EXAM TO BE PERFORMED ON THE PATIENT’S RIGHT OR LEFT SIDE?
  • PLEASE HAVE THE PATIENT BRING A CURRENT LIST OF MEDICATIONS THEY ARE TAKING TO INCLUDE NONPRESCRIPTION AND HERBAL MEDICINES.
  • WHAT INSURANCE DOES THE PATIENT HAVE AND DOES IT REQUIRE PRE-CERTIFICATION?

Instructions:

  • Please allow up to 60 minutes for this exam.
  • You may be given an IV contrast for your exam.
  • BRING A LIST OF YOUR CURRENT MEDICATIONS, INCLUDING OVER THE COUNTER AND HERBALS.
  • ABDOMINAL MRI STUDIES– YOU MUST NOT EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT
  • IF YOU ARE BREASTFEEDING AND YOU RECEIVE IV CONTRAST YOU WILL NEED TO STOP FOR 24 HOURS AFTER THIS EXAM.
  • IF YOU HAVE A PACEMAKER YOU CANNOT HAVE THIS EXAM DONE.
  • IF YOU HAVE CLAUSTROPHOBIA (FEAR OF ENCLOSED SPACES) OR ANXIETY,YOU MAY WANT TO DISCUSS THIS WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN.

New Physician at Passavant OB/GYN

Alexander Raw, MD, a faculty member at SIU OB/GYN, is accepting new patients at Passavant OB/GYN. Dr. Raw, an obstetrician/gynecologist, recently completed his residency in obstetrics/gynecology at the SIU School of Medicine, Springfield, IL. He earned his medical doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2013. He holds undergraduate degrees in chemistry and biology from the University of Texas at Dallas.
