A group of Passavant Hospital male employees who call themselves “Team Passastache” will be sprouting moustaches during the month of “Movember” for a special cause.
“Movember” is the annual, month-long event involving the growing of mustaches to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. “Movember” aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides getting an annual check-up, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of any family history of cancer, and to adopt a healthy life-style.
Currently, about 15 Passavant men have signed-up to grow their whiskers during “Movember.” To
participate, men must start “Movember 1″ clean shaven. For the remainder of the month, men may “groom, trim, and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.” Participants, known as “Mo Bros,” raise funds by seeking sponsorships for their growing efforts. You’ll be able to keep up with the progress of the Passavant Mo Bros and their moustaches on the Passavant Hospital Facebook page.
Even though ladies can’t grow a moustache, they can still support their favorite “Mo Bros” with words of encouragement and a donation.
In 2011, over 854,000 Mo Bros around the world raised $126.3 million .
You don’t have to be a Passavant employee to participate. Go to movember.com to sign-up and form your own moustache-growing team.
