Air Evac Lifeteam, an air ambulance service, will soon have a base on the Passavant campus.
Preliminary construction on the new facility started this week. Air Evac Lifeteam’s facility at Passavant will include an office and hangar. The office will be located in the northeast corner off the parking lot north of the former Springfield Clinic medical office building (Drs. Fry and Malcott). The hangar, which will store the helicopter when not in use, is being built directly south of the office and west of the current helipad. An automatic gate across the drive is included. The gate will keep cars clear of the helipad when the helicopter is being moved and upon take off/landing. The base is scheduled to go live July 15.
Air Evac EMS, which operates Lifeteam, is the largest independently owned and operated membership-supported air medical service in the United States.
In addition to the new Passavant base, Air Evac Lifeteam has area bases in Springfield and in Quincy.
