What is dry needling?

A dry needle is a tool used by a specially trained physical therapist to help relieve muscle and trigger point pain. A thin, filiform needle is inserted in to your tissues to give pinpoint relief in muscles and other structures. After the treatment, the muscle should be relaxed and more pliable. This can relieve pain and allow you to have normal movement in the affected area. Dry needling is used in combination with other physical therapy treatments such as stretching, massage, and exercise.

Does it hurt?
