Harry Schmidt, MBA
Chief Executive Officer, Passavant Area Hospital
Schmidt joined Memorial Health System in 2007 with Information Services. In 2009, he was named vice president of the health system’s facilities management division.
Prior to joining Memorial, Schmidt served for 20 years as a professional military officer, rising to the ranks of lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and major in the U.S. Air Force.
Schmidt holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s in business administration from Washington University.
Harry and his wife, Lisa, have two teenage sons and reside in rural Menard County.
Marshall Hale, MD
Chief Medical Officer, Passavant Area Hospital
Marshall Hale, MD, was appointed Passavant Area Hospital’s chief medical officer on September 1, 2018.
He is responsible for the administrative and clinical leadership of the medical staff at Passavant. In addition, he works with the physicians and the administrative/clerical staffs at Passavant and affiliate organizations to streamline operating systems, create efficiencies, reduce costs and eliminate barriers in order to maximize positive patient outcomes.
Dr. Hale completed his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry at University of Illinois in Champaign and received his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. He completed his residency in family practice at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
Dr. Hale, Board certified in Family Medicine, has been a member of the Passavant Medical Staff since 1983 and over his career served on the board of directors for both Memorial Health System and Passavant Area Hospital and served as Chairman of the Board for Memorial Physician Services. He has also served as President of Physicians Health Association of Illinois and he is a member of the Quality and Safety Committee of Memorial Health System.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the ultimate policy-making authority for the governance of Passavant Area Hospital. The Board of Directors is comprised of 16 members, each serving a four-year term. Directors are elected by the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors is comprised of representatives from 139 churches in the Passavant service area.
