Records were shattered in both the men’s and women’s 10K divisions at this morning’s 21st Annual Passavant-Powerade 5K and 10K Race at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Springfield’s Bryan Glass finished the 10K men’s race in a record 32 minutes, 25 seconds, surpassing last year’s record-setting time of 32 minutes, 47 seconds. Glass also holds the men’s 5K record of 15:36 which was set last year. Joy Guardia topped her own 10K record by 33 seconds in winning the women’s 10K race in 39 minutes, 15 seconds.

Adam Enz won the men’s 5K in a time of 18 minutes, 9 seconds, while Dakota Nicholson captured the women’s 5K title in a time of 22:26

Over 400 runners competed in this morning races through Jacksonville’s west side. The 2013 beneficiary is Girls on the Run-Jacksonville.

This year’s Race was dedicated to the memory of Jerry Symons who passed away earlier this year. Jerry served as the “voice of the Passavant Race” for many years.
