Surgical Waiting Area

Surgical Waiting Area

The Surgical Waiting Area is located near Ambulatory Surgery on the first floor and is staffed with a Volunteer that serves as your point of contact for information and assistance.

When you have a family member or friend undergoing surgery, we ask that you please check in with the volunteer at the desk in the Surgical Waiting Area. The Volunteer will notify you when your family member or friend reaches the Recovery Room, the doctor is ready to consult with you, and when the patient is back in his or her room. Visitors are limited to two per patient at the bedside in Ambulatory Surgery.

Courtesy phones are available in the hallway across from the Surgical Waiting Area and may be used to make local calls and calling card calls and to receive incoming calls. Restrooms are also located directly across from the Surgical Waiting Area. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are provided for family and friends as you wait; but if you would like something more, you may visit our cafeteria on the ground floor. The cafeteria is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the following serving schedule:

Breakfast         6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Lunch              11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (closed until 2:00 p.m.)

Dinner             4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

We recommend that you remain in the Surgical Waiting Area until you have spoken with the doctor. Should you need to leave, please let the Volunteer know where you will be in case you need to be contacted.
