CEO's Message

Welcome! At Passavant Area Hospital, we're more than just healthcare providers, we're your friends. We go the extra mile. We give you that extra attention. And we provide you with high quality healthcare you know you can trust. That's our commitment to you and the feeling that radiates through our halls day after day.

This website is a continuation of that commitment. So whether you have questions about the services we offer, are looking to join an upcoming class or support group, or simply want to brighten one of our patient's days, you've come to the right place.

Passavant Area Hospital is proud to be part of your community. We have an excellent team of progressive healthcare providers; and because of your generous donations, we continually update our technology and services and improve the care we provide.

April and May have been busy months for our staff and volunteers. We celebrated National Volunteer Week with the annual balloon delivery throughout the hospital. In May, the Auxiliary held its annual luncheon meeting and the hospital observed National Hospital Week and National Nurses Week. This year, an Employee Recognition reception was held at the hospital honoring employees for their years of service.

The Emergency Department (ED) is hosting an Open House on Sunday, June 6, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.  The ED expansion has been in the planning stages since 2003, and funds dedicated to the construction of the ED were set aside prior to the economic downturn. The ED currently sees over 30,000 patients a year in space for 7,500 patients per year.

Passavant Hospital has received a lot of publicity lately concerning possible layoffs. A letter sent to our employees indicated that our first quarter results continued to show a large loss, and an earlier plan put in place to reduce expenses fell short of realizing a breakeven budget. Therefore, employees 60 years of ago or older, with five years of service, were sent letters offering an Early Retirement Plan. Forty employees took the early retirement offer. Fourteen employees received layoff or reduction in
hours notices. Like other businesses, Passavant has not been exempt from reduction in revenue.

Please continue to be diligent about handwashing as you enjoy your summer.
