Imaging Services (X-ray)
Imaging Services (X-ray)The Imaging Services (X-ray) Department is open around-the-clock, 7 days-a-week under the medical direction of a Board Certified Radiologist (a physician specially trained in radiation). The Imaging Services Department, located on the first floor, is staffed with Registered Technologists in all areas and, in most areas, a Technologist is available 24-hours-a-day.
The areas within the Imaging Services Department include Diagnostic Imaging, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, and Special Procedures.
Imaging Services is home to a state-of-the-art 64-slice CT (computed tomography) scanner. It's the fastest and most advanced unit of its kind. The unit combines x-rays and computer technology to produce detailed, cross-sectional images of the body in just seconds.
In addition, Imaging Services has PACS, the Picture Archiving and Communication System. PACS is a virtual imaging department allowing all digital images (x-rays) and reports to be accessed by physicians via a personal computer at any time.
The department also provides services in other areas of the hospital, such as Surgery, Emergency Department, and patient rooms.
